1 Margoton, the young shepherdess,
Finding a little cat in the grass
Who had just lost her mother
Adopted her...
She half-opens her collar
And lays it against her breast.
It was all she had, poor thing,
As a cushion...
The cat, taking her for his mother,
Started to suckle straight away.
Moved, Margot let him do it...
Brav' Margot!
A crunchy one, passing around
Finding the picture unusual,
Went off to tell everyone,
And, the next day...
R When Margot unclasped her blouse
To give the gout to her cat,
All the fat people, all the guys from the village,
were there, la la la la la la. ..

And Margot, who was simple and very wise,
