With You
With you – it’s like being drunk without drink –
All the while your eyes dance round my soul.
You must have been loved and loved so much in your child time –
That now you love so deeply so well and so whole.
With you it’s like laughing without a joke –
You can lift up my soul in seconds when I’m with you;
It stays high all the while we’re together–
Such that when we’re not it falls like a leaf back to earth.
With you it’s like crying without sadness or hurt –
You bring the small child so far out of me.
I find it so hard to revert when we part
And when I’m not with you you’re always with me.
With you it’s like thinking but without thought,
Like being in the mountains and the hills and the lakes.
Like knowing the sounds there when we are together –
On a kind open ocean on a sun blue day.
