The Son's Cry
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Was the cry He heard comin' from the middle tree,
In agony, He watched them crucify His Son,
But His heart was crushed, when He heard that awful cry.
He watched them lead him down the road that led to Pilate's hall.
He watched them beat him on his back, while the blood did freely flow.
He watched them place the crown of thorns, spit upon his face,
But the worst of all the moments came when He heard His own Son say...
He shook the EARTH with a mighty QUAKE,
And He hid the sun from view.
He struck the heart of a priest with fear,
When He rent the VEIL in two.
The Holy wrath of God,
Upon his Son was laid.
The sacrifice for sin,
Jesus had made.
