One day my brother, was cornered in the gym
By a kid twice his size, so that’s when I stepped in
I got a black eye and a bloody lip
It took us both to get that bully whipped
As he was limpin', we both had no doubt

At 19 he’s a young Marine, his new wife’s having twins
I can’t believe he’ll have boys of his own, I’m so proud of him
The family’s here to say a prayer and send him off to war
I tell him “I’m going too,
somebody’s gotta watch over you”, our mama breaks down
But that’s what being brothers is about

Turns out… that he’s…. the one….. that took a bullet meant for me….
He came home with a scar, and they gave him a Purple Heart.
He told me, Youd have done the same for me cuz thats how brothers are.
Watching him with his boys, it makes me proud to see
The men they're growing up to be.
I hope they learn the same thing we figured out
And understand what being brothers is about.
I'll always have your back, and I'll never let you down
Cuz that's what being brothers is about.
