Through these eyes I can see my childhood passing,
Strong roots were planted deep within my soul.
Daddy told me if I was to be successful,
Honesty would lead me as I grow.
Now through these eyes I see my mother waiting,
assuring me the Lord will care for me.
She watches now to see the path I’m taking,
and wonders now what kind of man I’ll be.
Momma, she was such an inspiration,
Her stories from the Bible helped me see.
She warned me of the dangers of temptation,
Through these eyes I see her love protected me.
Mom and dad, they told me of salvation,
and how to tell if things were right or wrong.
They explained to me the evils of temptation,
through these eyes I see their faith, it made me strong.
Through these eyes I hope to see a better me.
