I called your name aloud again in my restless sleep last night -
As if that would be the last time it would ever feel quite right.
Weâd tried and failed in my dream to lay our ghosts to rest â

In my dream we both tried so hard to resolve our restless past

A shadow on our future and sowed doubts in both our minds â
They seemed to stop us loving then to hope for better times.
In my dream then by and by it became clear to you and me â
That there was nothing, no time and no one could help us both to see â
That there was any future left for us for how we both once tried â
And when I saw whatâs now been lost, again I cried and cried.
And when all my crying seemed to me to be to no avail -
I cried your name so loud into a long and hopeless wail.
It woke me as your name tailed off and passed my lips again â
For I knew that things could never be as they once were back then.
