The Best Crew Ever
The Best Crew – Ever…
I miss the crew I sailed with – when they were always there –
They knew just what to do always – they knew just how to care.
The crew you’d want to have with you - if anything went wrong -
I miss them so much now that we’ve not sailed for oh so long.
I miss the crew I sailed with – they were good at what they did –
And though I was so much older then – not a thing was ever hid.
For they knew they were learning, too, like me - all the time –
And it helped that I loved them, too, ‘cos in a way – they were all mine.
I miss the crew I sailed with – I’ll always see them yet –
A hundred crews before and since I’ll easily forget.
For they were always there with me through time and thick and thin –
Has never changed the way I’ll feel about them – beloved kith and kin.
I miss the crew I sailed with now – at the time I thought that I –
Taught them all they knew back then, and never had to try.
Sometimes I missed – just like I did many things now I can see
How much I taught them then but then how much that they taught me.
I miss the crew I sailed with - will we ever sail again?
Sometimes I wonder that and if they ever have a yen –
To do the same with me and be together once again –
Maybe give it one more chance to be like it was back then…
