A Judge
A judge (Fabrizio De Andre')
What it means to be one and a half meters tall,
your eyes and people's jokes,
and the curiosity of some impertinent girl,
who approaches you only because of her impertinent doubt:
she wants to know if what they say about dwarfs is true,
that they are the most endowed with the least apparent virtue,
of all virtues the most indecent.
The years pass, the months pass, and if you count them, even the minutes.
/>It's sad to find yourself as adults without having grown up,
the slander insists, beats the tongue on the drum,
to the point of saying that a dwarf is certainly a bastard,
because he has the heart too too close to the asshole.
It was during sleepless nights kept awake by the light of resentment
that I prepared for exams and became a prosecutor,
to take the path from the benches of a cathedral
/> leads to the sacristy and then to the chair of a tribunal:
judge finally, arbiter on earth of good and evil..
And then my stature did not dispense with good humor
to those who standing bar said Vostro Honor
and to entrust them to the executioner with a pleasure entirely mine,
before genuflecting in the hour of farewell,
not knowing the stature of God at all!
