The sun burned down on the fields where I completed my day's work. In my search for accommodation, I now wander through the dark night. Like a sign from a distance,
I hear a dull drumbeat,
I long for the hearth and warmth
and the woman with whom I lay
Lost in thick clouds of fog,
I see them from far away Embers of fire,
I hear the cry of the black ravens,
The sky glows like red blood.
The forest reveals a clearing,
Where in the pale moonlight,
Shapes dance and murmur softly,
but I don't see the faces.
"As creatures of the night we are spellbound,
I never knew daylight!
The magic is said to be broken,< br/>See you in the sunshine!" [2x]
In the shelter of the forest, I sneak there,
I see seven women in this place,
There is no point in running away,
I now understand their magic word.
"All around in the firelight,
let us be together today,
to break the curse that lies on us,
the darkness that surrounds us!"

The first ray of sun rises,
telling of the broad daylight.
The witches suddenly disappear,
All that's left is hot embers.
There where the magic began,
only the scent of sulfur reminds us,
of their hopes, which vanished,
the bodies dissolved into thin air.
