Talia Billig Band polypoid

I have a polypoid body made up of little growths
Extensions, add ons all fraught with the task of seeming whole
And when the parties conflict and something has to change
A sudden silence demanded, a life now rearranged
And nothing changes fast enough to please my impatience thus
I push and pull, I tug and tear, grasping for answers in thin air
While we can know only one thing: That we simply cannot know
So here’s to finding joy in silence, can you feel it? Do you know?
The child sings and she dances, puts on a constant show for all who’ll watch
and take part in her childish tableau
Sometimes I yearn for that feeling… that blatant disregard
That spark and gem of a feeling before things get so hard
And then that voice says: “That’s enough”
Hands fall and shoulders tense up
The faded looks and held back sighs, forced smiles and averted eyes
While we can know only one thing: That we simply cannot know
So here’s to finding joy in wherever you may want to go
And when the spring brings leaves back to tree lined Allen street
Will things be different this time?
Or will I simply repeat
