Dear Momma
Dear Momma
Dear Momma Iâm here, arrived safely today,
The place is so hot now â Iâm melting away.
The people are so scared â thought weâre here to stop that â
But I donât think they like us â donât know where itâs at.
Iâve got to be honest â Iâll tell you no lies â
Weâre all scared half shitless and thereâs fear in the eyes.
Of all of the people we thought would be so glad
To see us arrive here â and not see us as bad!
The reasons they gave us for starting this war
Donât seem like theyâre good ones to me anymore.
Dear momma â weâre here - right in the thick
Of all of the action â itâs making me sick
To see so much bloodshed â I thought weâd stop that
I donât think they like us â donât know where itâs at!
Dear momma â I shot at some people today
We were told to do it but there were kids out to play.
And do you know momma some kids here were hit
By our bullets and rockets â donât understand it.
Dear momma â we were told they wanted us here
But their faces are drawn and theyâre full up with fear.
They seem to hate us as much as the ones
Who are hurting them daily with their hate and their guns.
